About Us
Our goal as "Farming Village Restaurant & Farm Stay Himawari-Tei" is to be a place that continues the spirit of "Mottainai," which was first introduced by the late Sachi Yamakita (the first chairman of Kuma-gun Yunomae-machi Shimomura Fujinkai Ichifusazuke Processing Association.)
We first opened "Kyodo no Katei Ryori Himawari-Tei" in 1998. Through our passion, wisdom, and gratitude for "no waste cooking" we create dishes from the scraps and leftovers of fruits and vegetables; utilizing the often looked over morsels of "life." We are dedicated to creating a work environment where people can find meaning and vitality in their old age, where local traditional food culture is passed on to the next generation, and where the essence of "Food" and "Life" can be realized. This resolve has only been fortified since the flood of 2020.
Using modern methods, we will pass on to the generation this precious local food cuture, as well as the spirit of Mottainai. We hope this space will be a place where we can share the enjoyment of "living with loving people on earth, sustainably."
